Another Police Brutality on Journalist: Arrest of Publisher of PowerSteering News Magazine

Another Police Brutality has accrued as officers of CID has effected the arrest of a Journalist, Ogah Tom Uhia, Publisher of PowerSteering News Magazine.

He was forcefully arrested and whisked away at about 6pm yesterday being 13th October 2020, by officers of the Nigeria Police: Force CID led by one CSP Ibrahim and over a dozen detectives whom a few of them were identified as Detective Usman, Daniel and Elijah.

Though without a warrant and even undergoing treatment from injuries sustained from an earlier assault by some armed men in Abuja who warned him, Chief Uhia never to publish anything about a serving Minister of the Federal Republic in the President Muhammadu Buhari government.

See copy of the letter delivered earlier by the Force CID.His lawyers, Alexander Oketa/Evans Odeh is currently at the Force CID with reliable sureties ready and willing to take him on bail if the police would grant him bail, but he has been denied bail since last night.

As at the time of filling in this story, his house is being searched.One of the police officers disclosed that the arrest was at the instance of Jeddy Agba Minister of State for Power who was aggrieved about an earlier publication linking him to crude oil fraud and for claiming to be an engineer, which he is not.

The Abuja Branch NUJ Chairman- Emmanuel Ogbeche’s intervention could not stop the illegal arrest.
